Real Estate Listings Edmonton

Edmonton is the capital of Alberta. It’s metropolitan area is home to 1.1 million people making it the northernmost city in North America with a population of that size. Edmonton is famous for its huge network of luscious parks known as “The Ribbon of Green,” and extending along the North Saskatchewan river valley and all throughout the city. It’s also known for having North America’s largest mall, the West Edmonton Mall, and for being the staging area for one of the largest and most lucrative oil & gas operations on the planet.

There’s plenty to see in Edmonton, including an esteemed circuit of festivals, a lively theatre community, and a wide range of recreational activities in both the winter and summer months.

Edmonton is divided into five districts including the north, south, south central, central and west end. Central Edmonton is the city’s oldest area, the heart of the city, and the home of many of Edmonton’s main attractions. Besides the glass office buildings and numerous fine dining establishments, central Edmonton is home to the building where the Oilers—Edmonton’s NHL franchise—compete every year.

South Central is primarily taken up by Strathcona, an old city which became a part of Edmonton years ago. Located just south of the river it’s one of the most picturesque areas of town, with large mansions overlooking the breathtaking valley and downtown core just beyond. It’s also home to the University of Alberta where all the youth and excitement of a typical college campus can be found in droves. Last but not least Edmonton’s most popular strip mall, Whyte Avenue, is located in this district, an area beloved for its intimate nightlife, fine dining, and chic shopping.

The West End of Edmonton contains, of course, the city’s enormous shopping mall, spanning 48 city blocks, 800 places to shop, 100 places to eat, a hotel, an amusement park, a water park, and so much more. The entire district is a combination of residential and commercial property, with, naturally, parks interspersed throughout.

Yet more Edmonton real estate can be found in South Edmonton, where the LRT system has recently extended. New communities and subdivisions are being built everyday, while quiet mature communities are still popular in some demographics.

And finally there is North Edmonton, a place where, like in the south, mature communities dating as far back as the early twentieth century blend with increasingly newer suburbs. There are many recreational lakes in some of the suburban communities on the far corners of town, which are popular for young families looking for a comfortable neighborhood.
